The workshop entitled as “Consumer centric design and beyond for food business” was organized by Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences on 11th January 2020. The workshop was aimed at offering insight into how design intervention at various functions and stages of development could be useful for food business. The new dimension of designs unexplored so far were also the subject of presentation and discussion in the workshop. Overall, the workshop gave the entrepreneurial minds to explore how design can be helpful in building wonderful products, services, and experiences that the customer would love to buy.
The workshop was attended by students, faculties and invited speakers. Audience got to hear well known academicians and industry experts about their views and experiences on the Consumer centric design for food business. Speakers gave talks under following titles:
The workshop ended with a panel discussion on “Opportunities for Design in Food Industries and Possibility of Value Creation”.

On 30th May 2020, a half day seminar entitled as “Finishing School” for the MSc students (batch 2017-19) of Biotechnology and Nutrition & Dietetics programs was organized by Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences. The purpose of the seminar was to offer information, advice, and career-guidance on entrepreneurship. Eminent speakers from the field were invited for the same. The seminar was organized at Symbiosis Institute of Technology seminar hall. The programme started sharply at 9.30am and ended around 1.00 pm. Students were encouraged to have one on one discussion with the invited speakers. The opening lectures were conducted by Mr. Rajneesh Prabhu. He elaborated on the finance for entrepreneurs. Dr. Nishant Tikaker explained about entrepreneurship opportunities in Symbiosis. Dr Amit Tiwari explained about the scope of intellectual properties as a career. The last but not the least session was conducted for writing skills for better job opportunities by ELTIS team.

On 12th January 2019, a half day symposium entitled as “In focus: nutrition and sustainable developmental goals” was organized by Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS). The purpose of the seminar was to disseminate the knowledge and information about latest nutrition related research and its findings. The symposium was attended by MSc. Biotech and Nutrition and Dietetics students as well as the SSBS faculty members. Welcome address and the inaugural addressed were delivered by the SSBS director Prof. Vinaykumar Rale and the Faculty of Health and Biological Sciences dean respectively. Between 10-12th September 2018, a three-day workshop on nutrigenomics was organized by Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS). The workshop was aimed at educating on the basic aspects of genomics, role of nutrigenomics in lifestyle disorders, future of nutrigenomics research etc. The workshop had experts sharing their expertise and experiences on various aspects of nutrigenomics in the form of lectures, discussion of case studies, and panel discussion. The workshop was conducted as a collaborative work between Department of Nutrition & Dietetics Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences and Gene Support, Pune. Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences in collaboration with Indian Dietetics Association (IDA), Pune chapter had organized a CNE to celebrate the National Nutrition Week on 7th September 2018. The theme of National Nutrition Week 2018 was: "Ensuring focused intervention on addressing under-nutrition during first 1000 days of the child: Better Child Health". The CNE delivered an insight on diverse topics in Pediatric Nutrition by eminent speakers. Certificate of participation and a delegate kit were provided to all registered candidates. Over 115 delegates (practicing dieticians and students) participated enthusiastically in the CNE.

Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS), organized a one-day symposium on “Emerging Trends in Biomedical Sciences'. for the second consecutive year on February 3, 2017 at the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies auditorium, Khadki. Over 200 participants encompassing students and researchers from undergraduate to doctoral level were part of the one-day event, which was divided into four sessions spanning an entire day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Excellent talks by eminent speakers and experts on areas ranging from nutraceuticals and foodomics to the recent developments in the vaccine and other allied areas of biomedical field in India and abroad, kept the guests and invitees engaged throughout the day.
The Symposium commenced by lamp lighting ceremony, which was graced by Dr. Rajiv Yeravdekar, Dean, Faculty of Health and Biomedical Sciences (FoHBS) and Prof. Vinaykumar Rale, Director SSBS, along with other distinguished speakers. After the inaugural welcome by Dr. Vinaykumar Rale, Dr. Yeravdekar gave a perspective on SSBS as a hub for conducting advanced biomedical research. The first scientific talk of the day was by chief guest and the keynote speaker, Dr. Shirshendu Mukherjee, New Delhi. Dr. Mukherjee spoke about the importance of devising a smart project proposal for funding available for research on various aspects of biomedical sciences. In the next talk, the guest of honor. Dr., Sanjay Mehendale, Additional Director General, ICMR, New Delhi gave a very informative update on studies involved in the development of an indigenous vaccine for Rotavirus as compared to other global counterparts. His decades of experience on health systems research and operations research was evident in his interactive session with the participants following his talk.
Post lunch session began with a talk by Dr. Geeta Dharmatti, Nutrigenomic Diet Expert & Director Geeta Nutri Heal Consultancy, Pune, India. Dr. Dharmatti introduced the concept of nutrigenomics as a new emerging tool to manage a host of lifestyle. In her talk she spoke about communication between food and genes and the importance of genetics in the study of food metabolism. Dr. Anil Kumar, Principal and Scientist and head Tata Chemicals (Tata Innovation Centre) took forward the discussion on healthy eating in his talk in which he discussed the role of nutraceuticals in a healthy life. The last talk was by Dr. Narendra Maharaj, Vice President Clinical Development, Lupin Ltd. Pune. He talked on the process of Drug Development.
