Extension activity on the occasion of World Health Day

Participants : Students and Staffs of SSBS, SMCW and Department of Community Medicine & SCOPE.

An extension activity was carried out by students (M.Sc. Biotechnology – 2021-23) and staffs of Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences (SSBS) on the occasion of World Health Day, with the help of Department of Community Medicine & SCOPE. Students and staffs from SMCW also participated in this activity. Students carried out the awareness and cleanliness drive in line with this year’s World Health Day theme - ‘Our Planet, Our Health’ - Clean Air, Water & Food for a Healthier Environment. The activity was carried out at Mulkhed village,Mulshi, Pune, from 09:30 am to 01:30 pm on 7th April 2022. Students performed a street play in front of villagers, school kids and Gram Panchayat members and Sarpanch. Afterwards, they participated in a cleanliness drive to remove the plastic, paper and biodegradable wastes littering the village area. Awareness about separating the waste materials into – plastic (non biodegradable), biodegradable and paper was spread through this activity. Also, the importance of keeping the environment free of non-biodegradable waste was explained to the villagers and kids. In parallel a group of students also carried out the tree plantation. For the poster presentation, one group of the students from SSBS also won third poster prize for the presentation on “Drought and wildfire due to climate change” (Poster by: Purva Aditi, Richa Kulkarni, Sayali Chavan, and Aaditya Nair).
At the end all the students participating in this event, received a “certificate for participation”.
